Personal Safety and Conflict Resolution Training
One-day course for shcools and education
A practical course designed for school staff who may have brief or occasional contact with pupils during moments of distress — whether in corridors, reception areas or during phone conversations with parents and carers.
This one‑day course introduces the essential skills for responding to behaviours of concern or distress in a calm, person‑centred and supportive way. Staff explore the difference between conflict, anger, distress and behaviours of concern, and reflect on their own natural conflict‑management styles. The training looks at the signs, causes and patterns of escalating behaviour, helping staff feel more confident in recognising early cues and responding with clarity and compassion.
Participants learn the behaviour‑escalation model and gain a clear understanding of the legislation around reasonable force and restrictive practices in education settings. The day also includes gentle, hands‑on teaching of ethical release techniques to support safe disengagement if a situation becomes physically unsafe.
Assessment includes a short multiple‑choice test and practical demonstrations of release techniques. The course is suitable for up to 12 participants with one trainer, or 18 participants with two trainers. To keep skills up-to-date, a refresher is required in line with your internal policy.
