Respect Training believes every person has unconditional worth and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, even in challenging situations.

We empower staff to prioritise safety, equality, and person-centred approaches.

Our goal is to minimise the use of restrictive practices, prioritising solutions that empower individuals being supported while ensuring staff wellbeing.  We firmly uphold the principles and standards of the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN), championing ethical, compassionate, and supportive practices to promote positive change and improve the quality of life of individuals.

We aim to

  • Improve the quality of life for everyone
  • Promote the use of least restrictive options
  • Increase the competence and confidence of carers
  • Prevent distress rather than react to it
  • Support people rather than control them
  • Commit to restraint reduction principles.

Respect Training - more than just a name

Respect

We believe respecting the unconditional worth of every individual is fundamental for providing quality care. We see beyond achievements, behaviours, or circumstances and treat everyone with dignity, kindness and consideration and teach others to do so.

Equality

We believe everyone deserves respect and fair treatment. We ensure equality and inclusion and celebrate diversity, and we work to address any potential biases that may hinder positive support.

Safety

Staff should be empowered to create a safe environment for both the individuals they support and themselves and should have the tools to ensure effective safe practices, physically, emotionally, and psychologically.

Person-centred

We understand that each person has unique needs, aspirations, and goals. The individual should be at the centre of their care with personalised support given to each individual.

Empowerment

We champion independence and choice. Individuals being cared for should be empowered to build confidence, self-belief, and take greater ownership of their lives.

Culture

We live and breathe our values at all levels and encourage and enable staff to speak up when they feel something isn’t right.

Trust

We believe that acting with integrity and compassion is core to building trust. We believe that safe, compassionate, and person-centred care builds trust within teams and in the individuals being supported.
