RESPECT Training is one of only a handful of providers in the UK who have been successfully certified to Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards.

That’s something we’re really proud of.

The Restraint Reduction Network is an independent network focussed on reducing reliance on restrictive practices.

Bringing together committed organisations providing education, health and social care services, the network has developed quality standards and practical tools that support reduction.

These ethical training standards – produced with Health Education England - protect human rights and support the minimisation of restrictive practices while providing a national and international benchmark for training.

Meeting the standards means that our training is related and proportional to the needs of individual people while acknowledging that it is delivered by competent and experienced training professionals.

The Standards also reflect our commitment to:

  • protecting people’s fundamental human rights and promoting person-centred, best interest and therapeutic approaches to supporting people when they are distressed
  • improving the quality of life of those being restrained and those supporting them
  • reducing reliance on restrictive practices by promoting positive culture and practice that focuses on prevention de-escalation and reflective practice
  • increasing understanding of the root causes of behaviour and recognition that many behaviours are the result of distress due to unmet needs
  • where required, focusing on the safest and most dignified use of restrictive interventions including physical restraint.

“Training is delivered within the wider context of a company that has a strong ethical base and an impressive commitment to involving service users.”
