Update

We understand that training has been difficult over the last 12 months.

RESPECT has worked hard behind the scenes to be flexible and support your ongoing needs.

We have been part of ongoing discussions with BILD about how to continue to deliver training during the coronavirus pandemic.

If you have any worries or concerns about training at this time please contact the team.

For the Health and Social Care workforce, the impacts of COVID-19 have been extremely challenging. In the midst of the pandemic, life still goes on, and our compassion, understanding and skills in managing behaviours that concern are ever more important.

We’ve identified that training remains a priority during this period, supporting service providers to ensure there is a skilled and competent workforce. To meet this challenge we have rapidly innovated our delivery and remained flexible and adaptable to meet our customer needs.

We’ve welcomed guidance from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on training staff during the COVID-19 crisis, recognising that providers will be prioritising care and innovating our approaches. We’ve also worked alongside the Restraint Reduction Network and BILD ACT guidance to ensure our training maintains high standards while being accessible to those who need it.

"We have embraced the challenge to ensure our training continues to support providers to maintain staff competency, confidence and skills in providing safe, person-centered care to the people using their services.

We have innovated in our training practices, working with providers to ensure staff have safe approaches to managing behaviours that concern, listening to their needs and supporting them to make decisions about where and how their training works best for them."
